If you think Doulas are just compassionate people who want to help, you are right and they are more. They are certified to be end of life Doulas. There is an International End of Life Doulas . INELDA which is non profit organization that was at the heart of the first hospice program that became an entire industry.
If you go on the INELDA site it says “Doulas provide emotional, spiritual and physical support at an intensely personal and critical time. They assist people in finding meaning, creating a legacy project and planning for how the last days will unfold. Doulas also guide and support loved ones through the last days of life and ease the suffering of grief in its early stages.”
