LAURA DEL GAUDIO

How I ended up writing this book.

I never thought I would be publishing a book. As they say. if you have told me five years ago I would have said it would never happen. I got asthma due to all the chemicals and toxins I breathed in, it was bad enough to put me on disability. Five years ago I was spending my time knitting. I will tell you how being published happened.

I may be physically challenged by the asthma but I have always had the desire to broaden my spiritual experiences. There was a course I took that I believe allowed me to open my mind, heart and spirit to my dreams. I took the “Dream Builder” course by Mary Morrissey. I can’t explain how it happened all I know is that it did. I also took a course by Jean Houston in which I met a great friend in. Time past and my interest in my ancestry became greater. I had my son a little later in life and most of the family had already passed away or when they were alive he was too young to remember them. I decided to write a journal for him about the family members he never met and tell him stories about them, even his Great Great Grandfather.

In the meantime I came across a book by Elaine Aron called The Highly Sensitive Person and learned I was one of them. I came across a contest for a course and book on highly sensitive people by Maria HIll and I won it. Then I came across a free webinar by Jenna Avery who is a highly sensitive writing coach. I took it realized I was a writer and won a book again! Then my friend who was over one day said she had received a contest for a free weekend at When Words Count, which is a writers retreat. It was for two and we both went not thinking it would be much of anything. To my huge surprise the place is fabulous way beyond my expectations. The owner Steve Eisner was a talent scout for a contest of 6 people The winner would receive a publishing contract. I took the leap and entered the contest. No, LOL I didn’t win it but I was asked by a publisher if I accepted, she would publish it. So here I am, now on my second book which is a historical fiction.

You never know what life will present to you, but when it does, and it feels good, go for it, you’ll be happy you did.
