LAURA DEL GAUDIO

WELCOME!

Hi all! This is my first attempt on my own blog. Being old-school that is a big thing. I am Brooklyn born and raised. Born and raised in Old Mill Basin next door to my mothers side of the family. I also spent every spare minute Downtown Brooklyn living with my fathers side of the family. The only thing that made it a little different there was that my grandfather and father were funeral directors. Grandpa owned his own funeral home known then as a funeral parlor, that was because being the deceased were pretty much not viewed in peoples homes in their their parlors anymore but in a centralized place. We lived above the funeral home while my father was building his own more modern Funeral Chapel across the street.

Growing up in the fifties and sixties was so simple then, so much slower. The only computers were owned by the government and maybe massive businesses. They say the technology we have now in our cell phones was greater then that which put men on the moon!

I love being old-school. I got to live through a new century and a new millennium and they say the next 10 years will bring change that none of us can fully imagine. Sometimes I already feel like I live in what was just science fiction when I was a child. In 1964’s Worlds Fair I remember seeing the future… a tv screen where you can talk and see another person now skyping is beginning to feel like old school. Soon we will be talking to holograms of people like the holodeck on Star Trek.

I find it both fascinating and scary. All this stuff is supposed to make life more simple. I honestly see that has a whole different meaning then the simple. I know growing up in the second half of the last century.

  3. Now they do have holograms that talk and perform, so you’re right; it won’t be long until they utilize the technology to make us into FaceTime holograms. (I should be studying but instead I’m reading this).
